The PH kit was everything it said it is,but there are some things not mentioned.(First Off,mine came switched on,I turned it off immediately.I tried it and it does not work.It keeps going through all the digits and the calibrating screw doesn't do anything.I don't know if its the batteries not being new or what,but I'm sending mine back for a replacement.It came with a nice hard plastic case to store it in.I was pleased with this.There was a funny crystalline powder on the bottom of the meter beside the electrode.I don't know what it was,but it had a chemical taste to it.I think it might have leaked from the meter,who knows.Another thing,I didn't understand how the electrode is built.I seen an air bubble in the electrode and noticed a liquid inside the glass and I thought at first that it was used or leaked in,but after a quick search I found that they are filled with a buffer liquid and that everything was normal,until I tried to use it.FYI You are supposed to keep the PH meter wet...Read more

This seems to work as designed, but the instructions are difficult to follow for calibration. The important things to figure out are the following:
1. Use distilled water for calibration. You can get a gallon for a dollar at most grocery stores.
2. The distilled water needs to be at 25C/77F during calibration because pH changes with temperature. I used an aquarium thermometer (Get one at Amazon for $2.00. Also, you cannot use a for-human thermometer for this temperature range). If needed, boil some distilled water and add a spoon at a time until it gets to temp.
3. Mix each packet in a separate glass of distilled water. Each glass should contain 250 ml or 1 cup of water.
4. Rinse the probe end in a cup of distilled water.
5. Turn it on and place it in the 6.86 pH mixture first.
6. Adjust the screw on the back of the probe until it reads 6.9 while in the solution.
7. Rinse the probe in the distilled water.
