Product Review

This is a quality Ballistic Apron in black with self-healing pockets. These pockets allow you to tear them open via the hook & loop material and empty your contents of sawdust. This self-healing feature also allows you to carry sharp instruments, such as chisels or awls, without cutting or puncturing the material. I usually wear a shop apron when woodworking, a matter of habit brought on by a shop class I took many years ago. A shop apron is a great way to keep essential layout and marking tools within easy reach. The problem with most shop aprons is that they have a strap that loops around the back of the neck, which can be irritating once you've put 5 lb. of junk in the pockets. But that's not the case with the Ballistic Apron by FastCap. This nylon apron has a pair of straps that go over the shoulder, cross in the back. The design places all of the apron's weight upon the shoulders, not the neck, making it comfortable enough to wear all day. The Ballistic Apriorf has been designed with the professional woodworker in mind.

I am primarily a finish carpenter now and have used aprons (rather than bags) for many years. Most lumberyards sell a canvas apron that has all the right features but they do not last very long (1-2 months). I had one nylon apron with all the same features as the canvas aprons that lasted for years, which I need to replace now. (the company that made it no longer does). With all that said, I saw this apron and with high hopes, and bought it. It is so poorly designed that I can not use it. For those that are carpenters I will list the draw backs,
1. There are pockets for utility knives or chisles on the left side only and one pocket has a velcro flap (?) Who's bright idea is that?
2. There is one hammer loop. It is on the right side and attached to one of the pockets so it is just flooping. The loop is way to small. (I am right handed but I carry may hammer on the left side)
3. There are no little slots for nail sets.
4. On the left side is a small pocket,...Read more

Tie straps are too short for front tie and require a bow tie in rear. Hammer loop too small and too low on apron. Otherwise looks and feels well made.
