There is a review floating around Amazon.com about these imported chests, claiming they are really terrible, but that is just not the case.

The fit and finish is quite good, clearly machine cut and jig built all the drawers are the same size and fit well.

Here are some the differences, drawer glides are plastic (but seem strong), drawers do not have the spring stops found on USA models, the design is slightly different with this model having metal corners on the top.

But buyers must remember this chest is being sold for 149 with shipping, not even close to what a USA chest costs.

According to Gerstner (on their web site) these imported cases have sold so well they have been able to hire more people, so in this case importing is a compliment to USA products.

I purchased one of these chests for a pocket knife collection after reading the AMAZON reviews. Yes---Gerstner makes better chests but they cost four times what I paid for this one. Fit and finish are more than adequate, and it filled my needs perfectly. I immediately purchased another and the quality/fit/finish were also first rate. If you need a hobby chest for small items that is sturdy, attractive and well made you WON'T find a better one at twice the price. The AMAZON free shipping made this even a better deal--you just can't go wrong here!!!
