4.0 out of 5 stars Good For What It Is, April 16, 2010

I bought this unit over a year ago and have to say that I am very happy and impressed with it. I purchased it at lowes for about $25, which also has metal latches. There are 2 versions, one with metal latches and one with plastic. Aside from that, they are identical. I'v read a lot of reviews on different units and realized that people are using them improperly or expecting it to do something it's not intended for. For example, the long handle is to wheel the unit around with "not to pick it up with". Of course the handles snapped off, it wasn't supposed to be picked up by that. There is a seperate handle integrated on top of the tool box to pick it up with. This mobile work center has been really great to take on job sites. I keep all my hand tools in the upper tool box and power tools along with other large items in the bottom storage area. The plastic is fairly sturdy and rugged and has held up very well with moderate to heavy use. I carry a little over 50 pounds of tools in it at...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Handy tote, but probably not for tools, November 21, 2011
Bird That Flew (US) - See all my reviews

I bought this tote to transport and hold all the items I use in cosmetology school: mannequin heads, hair dryer, and multiple small items like clips, combs, etc. It's great for that purpose - small items go in the top toolbox area, and the larger stuff goes in the bottom. However, I would be afraid to use this tote for tools. All the items I carry are lightweight so it works for me, but I shudder to think what would happen if I swapped hairbrushes and curlers for wrenches and hammers. I really don't think it would stand up to that kind of use, unless perhaps you kept it stationary, which of course defeats the entire whole purpose of a wheeled tote. The plastic it's made of is very lightweight, the clasps are functional but flimsy, and the bottom door goes off its track frequently. If you're looking for a wheeled tote to transport heavy tools to a job site and back, I don't think this particular tote will suit your needs. If you want to carry lightweight items like crafting...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Light Weight and ready to go!, May 14, 2011

This is a great light weight box with good storage. I looked at a lot of boxes including the metal versions but found they were too tall or too heavy on their own before I even added my stuff. I need to be able to pick up the box loaded and put it in a trailer or in my SUV so it needed to start light and not be too tall. This is my new grooming box for the dog shows and will handle the taller bottles in the bottom section. My only complaint is that the extending handle could extend a little more. I am almost 6 ft and pulling this is just beyond my palm grip and the weight rests mostly on my fingers. For the price, it can't be beat (went to Lowe's and got it for under $20).
Update Feb 2012....after almost a year of use and being hauled around, still pleased with the build quality. I jazzed up the exterior with rub on paw prints when I decided it would be too much of a pain to repaint. The only complaint is that it is very prone to tipping even when loaded in the bottom. The...Read more
