It is well made and durable. But as good as Amazon is, they are way overpriced on this one item. I paid less than 50.00, and that was regular price at one of the major home improvement chains.
I want another one, so c'mon guys, go check the competition...LOL! 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Thomas R. Orr (Tacoma, WA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Stanley Consumer Storage 029025R 24 Gallon Mobile Chest (Tools & Home Improvement) I have been in Afghanistan for a year and these trunks are in common use throughout the theater to haul heavy battle gear. We come here with 4-5 seabags full of gear. The "gouge" (tip) is to use these Stanley tool boxes. These cases are great for avoiding the tortuous and infamous bag drag from one plane to the next. Their handles and rollers help (although the handle could be longer). Some things to be aware of: (1) the other reviews are correct that the latches are way too sharp and have sharp edges that can cut hands and knees - have cut my knees twice because I left the latch partially undone; (2) some airlines won't except and/or charge more. Alaska Airlines shipped the case with no charge despite being oversized and overweight. United Airlines was just the opposite. The case by itself weighs 30 pounds. Commercial airlines limit baggage weight to between 50-70 pounds so that means you can only stow about 20-40 pounds of gear if travelling...Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Stanley Consumer Storage 029025R 24 Gallon Mobile Chest (Tools & Home Improvement) This is a real nice box. Bought it to replace a 24-gal Rubber Maid Action Packer I use for deployments. The Rubber Maid traveled thousands of miles with me but one of the latches never worked properly (poorly moulded) and I want something with wheels. The Stanley looks much more solid and I expect it will hold up well. The latches are a little sharp but I can smooth the edges in five minutes with a Dremel tool. Here's the key thing: Previous reviewers are correct as of Jan '11. You can buy this box for $39.99 at Lowe's. The model number isn't the same there, but search on "Stanley" at the Lowe's site and find the right picture (wheels will be black instead of yellow). |
